Natural PAINTING BY NUMBERS
A
large stretched canvas on an easel (approximately 1.8m x 1.2m) is
pre-prepared with an accurate rendition of a famous old master or modern
artwork of your choice, drawn in the simplified ‘Painting by Numbers’
style. A section of the painting is already completed in colour to show
what has to be done. A costumed character, usually an ‘artist’
(perhaps the original artist) helps guests to complete the picture using
numbered pots of water-based acrylic paints whilst discussing pseudo-artistic
topics. Protective smocks are provided for participants if necessary. It
is amazing how people get into carefully painting details and the finished
article, which the client can keep, can be quite impressive.
This piece can be done indoors or out and is best when accompanied by other characters such as a gallery attendant, gushy art critic or even HM the Queen to declare it open when completed. Smart brass poles and red ropes can be supplied to give an up-market look! If performed out of doors, it needs to be at an event where some kind of security exists, as it works better when the participants are able take it seriously rather than a splashy paint free for all.
Previous creations have included Pietro Annigoni’s famous portrait
of Queen Elizabeth, several well-known Dali’s including the Mae West
Sofa, and contemporary Turner Prize shortlist paintings.
