Walkabout Characters
Natural Theatre practically invented walkabout characters in the 1970's. Closely observed, immaculately turned out and totally inscrutable in any situation, they are still the best.
This is interactive, accessible and very comical theatre, using highly recognisable characters in unfamiliar situations or conversely, surreal juxtapositions in completely normal surroundings.
Our experienced teams know just how long to linger, when to move on and who wants to join in and who doesn't. Round the tables at a posh dinner or up and down the High Street, on cruise ships and even on a plane to Malaga, the audience give as good as they get and are more than happy to play along.
Suggested scenarios: The Big Hatted Ladies...unfeasibly floral: The Naked People...not really nude, but wearing realistic body stockings and unaware of the sensation they are causing: The Flowerpots...elegant, calm and highly photogenic; Shellsuits...out to sink a barrel or two and pick a fight, and that's just the girls; Kissing Coppers, our world-famous amorous officers.
See the Natural Theatre Photo and Video Galleries for more examples of our work.
